What are balcony and terrace profiles?

Balcony and terrace profiles are special finishing strips mounted on the edges of outdoor floorings. They are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum, which is lightweight and does not deform under the influence of moisture or UV radiation. Balcony strips have a profiled shape that causes water to drain from the tile surface beyond the building's perimeter. This design protects not only the flooring but also the facade from moisture and streaks.

This category also includes OKAP100 drip profiles for balconies with a wide drip opening and a complete system of accessories that minimize the risk of flooding the balcony soffit.

Balcony drip profiles – function and application

Properly selected profiles for balconies and terraces serve many important functions. Thanks to them, moisture does not accumulate on the floor, the surface looks aesthetic, and is easy to keep clean. The profiled construction with a slight slope ensures that water flows freely towards the outer edge of the balcony or terrace, without seeping under the floor layers. This prevents mechanical damage to the terrace or balcony edges by frost and protects the building's facade from unsightly stains and mold outbreaks.

Additionally, balcony drip profiles stabilize the edges of ceramic tiles and gres, protecting them from chipping or detaching due to thermal stress. Their use significantly extends the lifespan of the entire structure and helps avoid costly renovations in the future.

Modern balcony profiles are used in both old and new construction. They are ideal for finishing balconies and terraces, regardless of the type of tiles used.

We also offer tile profiles recommended for protecting tile edges on walls, in areas where they meet plaster or paint, where they provide an aesthetic and even finish for ceramic cladding.

How much does a balcony profile cost? Price of balcony and terrace profiles

Prices for terrace profiles start from less than 30 PLN for 2 meters of material. The final cost, however, depends on the type of profile, the raw material used, the dimensions, and the product's intended use.

When choosing the best solution, it is worth paying attention not only to the price of the balcony profile but also to its technical parameters. Good terrace strips are often made of EN AW-6063 aluminum alloy, which is characterized by high corrosion resistance, a favorable strength-to-weight ratio, and very good performance properties.

By choosing products directly from the manufacturer of terrace profiles, you gain assurance of consistent manufacturing quality, a wide selection of dimensions, and compatibility of all system components. Investing in proven balcony drip caps translates into a lower risk of failure, easier installation, and lower operating costs every day.

Our offer also includes stair nosings and many other practical accessories that enhance the utility and aesthetic value of finished surfaces.

FAQ – Balcony Profiles

What is the difference between a balcony drip edge and a drip strip?

A terrace (or balcony) drip edge and a balcony drip strip are two terms often used interchangeably, describing elements for finishing external floorings. An aluminum balcony drip edge is a broader term, usually referring not only to a single element but to an entire system for draining water from the balcony. Balcony strips for tiles is a narrower term and refers to the profile itself mounted at the edge of the flooring, without additional accessories.

What balcony hardware and accessories are needed for installation?

For installation, terrace hardware such as: aluminum balcony profiles, connectors, internal and external corners, and end caps are needed to ensure proper connection and a smooth finish of individual system elements. Thanks to them, the entire structure looks aesthetic, is watertight, and durable.

How to install a drip profile on a balcony and terrace?

Terrace drip profiles are installed under the tiles. The strip is placed under the ceramic cladding, even before the tiles are glued. The mounting part of the aluminum drip profile is embedded in the adhesive layer and connected to the waterproofing. As a result, only the edge of the strip responsible for draining water outside the balcony or terrace is visible.

Can a balcony profile be painted?

An aluminum balcony profile can be painted, but this requires proper surface preparation and the use of specialized paints. The models we offer are available in natural, powder-coated, or anodized versions. This treatment ensures that aluminum terrace profiles have a smooth, compact coating, can be easily matched to various architectural styles, and exhibit high corrosion resistance.

Which balcony drip cap for tiles – aluminum or PVC?

Both types effectively drain water and protect balcony edges from moisture. Aluminum balcony drip caps are often chosen for modern and heavily used installations with gres or stone. PVC models, on the other hand, are valued for their lightness, attractive price, and wide range of colors. The final choice should be adapted to the type of finish, available budget, and individual preferences of the investor.
