Polystyrene baseboards - what they are and what they are made of
A polystyrene baseboard is a finishing profile made of expanded or extruded polystyrene, covered with a hard, smooth coating. This material is characterized by, among other things, a homogeneous structure, low weight, and high resistance to mechanical deformation.
The polymer baseboards available in this category are designed with real construction conditions in mind. Sections 2.44 m long ensure practical application, and the lack of need for additional preparation speeds up installation.
Advantages of polystyrene baseboards - durability, moisture resistance, and paintability
Polystyrene baseboards have many practical advantages that will be appreciated by both professional contractors and those finishing an apartment on their own. These include primarily:
- moisture resistance - polystyrene baseboards do not swell, deform, or mold even in conditions of increased humidity,
- paintability - the surface of polystyrene baseboards accepts acrylic paint without priming, allowing for color matching to any arrangement,
- lightweight construction - low weight facilitates transport and installation, reducing work time on the construction site,
- simple processing - polymer baseboards can be cut with a regular saw or a craft knife, without the need for specialized tools,
- dimensional stability - profiles do not react to temperature changes as strongly as wood, thus eliminating the problem of cracking or peeling off the wall,
Types of polystyrene profiles - shapes, heights, and widths
In our offer of polystyrene baseboards, you will find profiles of very diverse dimensions - from slender models with a height of 40 mm to wide-area designs reaching up to 195 mm. Such a wide range means that duro-polymer and standard polymer baseboards are suitable for both rooms with low ceilings and for high, representative spaces.
The shape of the profile's cross-section has significant aesthetic importance. We offer designs with a simple, minimalist form (e.g., models LPC-36 or LPC-37) and more decorative ones, with a contoured front, such as LPC-34 or LPC-39.
- Wide-area HD baseboards, over 100 mm high, create an effect similar to classic wainscoting and blend well with cornice moldings at the ceiling.
- Narrow profiles, on the other hand, suit modern, minimalist interiors where discreet finishing of the floor and wall connection area is important.
Polystyrene baseboards as an element of interior decoration
The diversity of polystyrene profiles allows for precise matching of baseboards to the character of the interior, both in terms of proportions and finishing style. Appropriately selected height and profile shape can emphasize modern minimalism or introduce a more decorative, classic accent.
In our offer, you will find a wide selection of solutions that meet various arrangement and technical needs. We offer high-quality polystyrene baseboards, but also other finishing systems that allow for comprehensive care for the aesthetics of the interior, e.g.:
